Dine Parlare at Britton Manor: A Celebration of Connection and Creativity
When I first heard about Dine Parlare, I knew it wasn’t just another event—it was something truly special. Lauren O, the visionary behind Lauren O & Co., explained to me how this gathering was born out of a need for more diversity and representation in the wedding industry. She shared how challenging it was early in her career to show up authentically, and how Dine Parlare became her way of creating a space where real conversations about inclusivity could happen.
The name says it all: “Dine” for the meals that bring people together, and “Parlare,” which means “to talk” in Italian, for the gloves-off conversations about creative entrepreneurship, representation, and everything in between.
The Venue: Britton Manor
Lauren chose Britton Manor in Kinston, NC, for its rich history and artistic atmosphere. It’s more than just a venue—it’s a celebration of culture and creativity. Stephen Hill, the owner, has poured so much heart into revitalizing the space and the surrounding area.
The Manor’s Victorian glasshouse was one of my favorite spaces to photograph. Bathed in natural light, it was the perfect setting for the evening’s curated dining experience. The jewel tones and bold colors throughout the event created such an inviting and vibrant atmosphere.
The Design and Experience
Lauren O described the theme of maximalism as a response to the challenges of 2024. The event was all about abundance—vibrant florals from BKD Florals, layered textures and linens from BBJ La Tavola, and striking patterns from Curated Events. Every detail was intentional, and designed to make guests feel uplifted and inspired.
The evening wasn’t just about the aesthetics, though. It was about fostering real connections. From conversation cards at each place setting to Chef Jessie Scott’s southern-inspired menu, everything was designed to spark interaction and leave a lasting impression.
The Portrait Lounge
The Portrait Lounge, created by Lauren Depuy Photography, was an absolute highlight. Lauren described it as more than just a photo area—it was a space for collaboration and connection. It gave attendees a chance to capture professional portraits while celebrating their individuality.
Watching creatives interact in this space reminded me how important it is to have moments like these in our industry. The energy was playful, inspiring, and collaborative—everything Dine Parlare stands for.
Why Dine Parlare Matters
Dine Parlare is more than an event; it’s a movement. It’s about creating space for diversity, meaningful conversations, and authentic connections. As a photographer, I was honored to capture these moments and witness firsthand the impact of Lauren O’s vision. This gathering wasn’t just beautiful—it was purposeful, and I’m grateful to have been part of it.
